How to change your subscription hero

For a magicstory.com subscription, open Account > Subscriptions, open the subscription, and select Change who stars to choose another saved character. Use Change look to update the current hero. App-store members can contact support for help choosing a hero when using a credit.
For subscriptions billed directly on magicstory.com, Change who stars picks a different saved character for future books. Change look changes the current hero's appearance.
App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore memberships do not have these controls. See the app-store section below for help choosing a hero.
Open the subscription
Sign in, go to Account > Subscriptions, and select Manage subscription on the child's card. The subscription page shows the current hero.
Select Change who stars
Choose Change who stars next to the hero's picture.
Pick a saved character
Choose the character you want. The current hero is marked Current hero. If the right character is not saved yet, add them first from Characters with Add a hero, then come back to switch.
Confirm your choice
Select Switch to with the character's name. They become the hero for this subscription's books, starting with the next one.
How do I update the current hero's appearance?
Select Change look next to the hero's picture on the subscription page. This opens the look studio, where you can change things like hair or clothes without picking a different character. See how to change your child's look for the steps.
You cannot change the hero or their look while the next book is already being made. The subscription page tells you when that is the case.
What if two saved characters are the same child?
If the new character has the same first name as your current hero, you will be asked whether they are the same child. Choose Yes, same child to combine the characters, use the new look, and keep their books and progress together. This cannot be undone.
If they are different children with the same name, choose No, a different child. The subscription will switch to the character you selected.
Does this change an order I already placed?
No. Changing the subscription hero applies only to future orders. An existing order keeps its original character, even if it has not shipped yet.

What if I subscribed through the App Store, Google Play, or Amazon?
These memberships do not have a saved subscription hero. Account > Subscriptions shows your membership status and credits instead.
