How do I manage my saved characters?

Open Characters while signed in. Tap the character you want to update. A window opens where you can change their look, name, or age.

How do I find a character?

The Characters page shows everyone who stars in your books: your heroes first, then pets, parents, grandparents, and other companions. Use the filters at the top, such as Heroes or Pets, or search by name.

How do I correct a name or age?

Tap the hero and choose Edit details. Change the first name, last name, or age, then select Save changes. Check the spelling before saving, especially if you are about to order a new book. The last name is optional and is shown on the cover if you add it.

For a pet, parent, or other companion, tap them, change the name, and select Save name.

These account edits are not a request to change a paid order. If an order contains a mistake, follow how to request an order change promptly.

Which option should I use for the picture?

• Change look: pick a few changes, such as new hair or clothes, preview the new look, and keep the one you like.
• Use a new photo: start fresh from a different photo. We draw the hero again, and the confirmation tells you if any saved looks will be replaced.
• Add a hero: create a separate character, such as a sibling, while keeping the existing hero. Use Add character or the Add a hero card on the Characters page.

To change how a pet or family member looks, add them again with a new photo the next time you personalize a book.

How do I remove a character?

Tap the character and choose Remove. For a pet or family member, the remove option is at the bottom of their window. Then confirm.

• A removed character no longer appears in your characters, and you cannot choose them for new books. This cannot be undone.
• Books you have already ordered are not affected.
• A pet or family member can be added again with a photo any time you personalize a book.

A hero who stars in a Magic Story+ subscription cannot be removed. First switch the subscription to another hero, then remove them.

Will changing the character affect Magic Story+?

If the hero is used by a subscription, changes to that hero can affect future books. A new look or new photo is used for upcoming subscription books. Review the upcoming shipment in Subscriptions, especially if it is already being prepared.

To use a different saved hero for the subscription, follow changing your subscription hero. Creating another hero does not automatically switch the subscription to them.

Why can I not find a character I created?

Confirm that you are signed in to the account you used when saving the character. If the library still looks wrong, contact us (opens in a new tab) and tell us the account email and character's name. Include an order number if the character has already been used in a purchase.
