How do I buy a Magic Story book for someone else?
Updated October 8, 2026 · 2 min read
You can personalize a book for another child and enter the recipient's shipping address at checkout. If you do not have a suitable photo or want the parents to choose the character, send a gift subscription instead.
What do I need before I start?
Have the child's name, a clear photo, and the delivery address ready. If you are not their parent or legal guardian, get the parent or guardian's permission to use the child's photo for personalization. This is required by our Terms of Service.
Ask the family to check the spelling of the child's name. A nickname can be a good choice if that is the name they normally use.
How do I place the gift order?
Choose and personalize the story
Start from the gifting page or a book's product page. Upload the approved photo and enter the child's details. Follow the photo tips if you need a better picture.
Review the character and book
Check the name, likeness, story, and any companion before adding the book to your cart. Choose the purchase option you intend to buy, paying attention to whether it is a single purchase or a subscription.
Enter the delivery details
At checkout, enter the address where the book should arrive. Check the delivery estimate and order total before paying. Keep your confirmation email so you have the order number if you need help.
Can I send it in time for a birthday or holiday?
Allow time for both printing and shipping. Check the estimate for the destination at checkout, and see how long delivery takes. Delivery estimates are not a guarantee of arrival on a particular date.
Can the family choose the photo themselves?
Yes. A gift subscription lets you send a gift code so the recipient can personalize the books. You do not need to collect the child's photo to purchase that gift.
