Who we are

Magic Story was founded by Erik Ober and Alex Hawkins, alumni of Sony Pictures Animation whose studio credits include Spider-Man and The Polar Express. Today the editorial team spans writers, illustrators, and child-development enthusiasts creating Pixar-quality personalized books — and the guides on this blog — for 100,000+ families.

How we work

• Research first. Articles about child development, reading, and emotional growth are grounded in published research and our experience creating stories for real families — and we say so plainly when a claim is our observation rather than a study.
• Accuracy over marketing. Prices, product details, and dates are checked against the live catalog. When something changes, we update the article and show the updated date.
• Modern tools, human ownership. We use AI in our illustration pipeline and our editorial workflow — and every published article is reviewed, edited, and owned by the team.
• No invented experts. We never attribute content to fictional authors or fabricated credentials. Where expert review is added, it will be a real, named, credentialed reviewer.
